I heard Hillary Clinton was on GMA this morning putting the smackdown on Shrub and nem. I'd like to think my letter helped. But I won't big myself up just yet. Here's what I told her and the rest of the NY Seatwarmers in the Senate and Congress:
As a taxpaying, hardworking, voting member of your constituency, I URGE YOU to put pressure on the Bush Administration to act in a cohesive, organized way to the needs of the people of Louisiana and Mississippi.
It has been made abundantly clear that the victims of this hurricane are not being giving the proper support that they need to be relocated from the deathtrap that is the Gulf coast.
The people in these areas have been depicted as lawless, crazed bandits and the time for punditry and pontification is over. Lawlessness is one small part of an environmental problem that has been brewing for years. These people need the assistance of this government and the foot dragging will no longer be tolerated.
Please keep in mind that all of this will be remembered by me as well as others during the mid-term elections. As an active, dues paying member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated I will make it my personal mission to keep your lack of action prominent in the minds of the membership as well as the community as a whole.
Will you stand up for the people in these affected regions? The time for real leadership is now. The time for playing the middle is over. It is clear that we cannot expect competent leadership from the president.
Stand up and be counted among the voices of REAL leadership.
To quote Bone Crusher: I told dem Motherfuckers....I ain't never scared.
Later........
