There was the tinge of drama of course with Groomsmen BS'in and folk showin up late and whatnot, but I didn't dwell on it because it was much too beautiful and special a day to harp on the dumb shit.
My day started with my homies Vic & Sugar who were at the Brooklyn Marriot with me. We had breakfast and headed off in different directions to get done up for the big day. I got my hair did and then I headed back to find everyone nearly dressed and the photog on the scene taking pics of folk getting ready.

Fast forward, I’m dressed & made up and rollin in the limo with my peeps headed to the lovely Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I ‘m looking all around me because I want to take a mental picture of everything around me. I wanted to remember how the sky looked. How white my dress was and how lovely all my MOHs & BMs looked. I’m also marveling at the fact that my dress had my boobs propped under my chin. Literally.

Suddenly (but not really, cause there was mad traffic) we were there and it was time to take the pics before the ceremony. But first I had to see my Groom. It was so surreal walking up to him in full bridal regalia. His back was to me and I walked up and said “Hello, Mr. Stephenson” & he turned around and I was his face light up and I knew I hit the mark with all my prep.
He said “wow” and I smiled and we chatted. I said to him as I have numerous times during the planning and lead up to the big day, “we’re getting married!” he said “yes we are”. We marveled at the beauty of our surroundings and then it was time for all to the hubbub to begin. We took our shots and suddenly it was time.

Our wedding coordinator (who was an effin rock star!!!!) lined everyone up then asked if I was cool with starting without the late ass folk to which I said screw them and we were off. I was going down the aisle to my groom and I tell you, it was like in the movies when all the sound drops out. I couldn’t hear the quartet, I didn’t hear one of my trifflin African relatives take an effin phone call while I was going down the aisle, I didn’t hear anything. I was so focused on not stepping all over my dress…again.

Master the bridal kick walk, Brides. That’s all I’m sayin.
Anyhoo, I get down the aisle and my parents bounced and it was just me and Zeen as far as I knew. I think there was singing but I was totally fixated on the fact that my blusher was over my face and I was burnin up. LOL! Anyhoo, it was time for the vows and I was hoping that my mouth wasn’t so dry that it would twist my tongue up.
But it didn’t. I spoke loud and clear (I think) and looked in to my husband’s eyes and repeated the words and meant every single one. It was so awesome!
And just like that it was done. It was picture time and I was salty cause I really wanted to be at the cocktail hour. But no haps and it didn’t matter cause I was Mrs. Zeen and all was right with the world. We bombed it up to the cocktail reception for a second to hear my Soror serenade us with India’s Beautiful Surprise and it nearly brought me to tears. That’s just how beautiful it was.
Then it was time to partay!!!!! We were announced and we pimp strolled in to So Fresh & So Clean and headed right to the floor to our first dance as husband & wife. It was like we were alone and it was just dreamy. Then the party got jumpin. We sat were catered to with the utmost professionalism (Big up the Palm House Staff!) The DJ was jamming on the one and folk just got their carnival on. It was so great! We cut the cake and tossed both bouquet & garter and just partied all damn night.

It was wonderful to see all that work culminate into something so organic and effortless looking (cause it damn sure wasn’t easy). I gotta give it up to the best team of folks a bride could have: Vic, Sugar, Shona, & Isis. Along with my beautiful BMs: Tiff, Nikia, Daniella, & Denise they helped the day go flawlessly. I especially thank the MVP Vic for all her tireless efforts and the ever-so-fly Isis for all her ideas and support and just general awesomeness. Thank you so much for my something blue (& old), it really meant a lot to me and damn near got me crying. But I fought it cause Salma (the bomb make up artist) worked too hard to make me so fly for me to mess it all up.
It still feels like a dream but it’s all true. And I have all of you to thank for helping it happen.
I'll have more pics to post as I get them so hang tight folks!
Later...
The Mrs. (Hee!)
