Going Greek Parts 2 & 3

Yeah I know. I took an incredibly long time to post the other parts of Max & Zeen's Big Fat Greek Honeymoon. I just needed a break. I lost my freshly honeymooned luster ages ago and I'm back to being a salty, bitter bastard. But I've returned to pay what I owe. So here goes.......

Mykonos, Beautiful Mykonos!

We arrived on an awesomely beautiful day much like the other days in Greece. Fluffy white clouds in gorgeous blue skies greeted us as we zoomed through the winding roads of Mykonos. We arrived at the Santa Marina Resort and we were taken on a tour of the resort and then shown our room which was awesome. Our room faced the Aegean, so every day we woke up to a picture perfect view of the sea.

Our days consisted of the following:

  • Laying out in the sun

  • Eating wonderful food

  • Drinking good booze

  • Shopping

  • Gettin our spa on

  • Hot sex

It was friggin perfect. We went to Mykonostown and explored the town and got stared at. A lot. No really a whole lot. Ok it could be the fact that we were the only Black folks in a 50 mile radius. But folks straight gawked. I really wish I was exaggerating but sadly no I'm not. Case in point, we were dining in the resort's restaurant and a couple literally moved from staring at us on the sundeck to posting up at a table right nearby to get a closer look. It could have been because we were quite handsome and beautiful

Anyhoo, Mykonos was by far my favorite Island because of the views and its general awesomeness. Did I mention swimming in the Aegean? Absolute heaven!!! The water was so salty you just floated and if you weren't careful you could float out to sea. Nothing beats a swim on a private beach. Nothing.

On the downside there were plenty of nekkid Europeans. Old, young, fat, and hairy they all seemed to be insistent on stripping down and showing us the goods. Floppy titties or none the were all about the flash. Or they were just trying to get optimal sun. Nah, they wanted to traumatize us.

After the beauty of Mykonos we set off to Santorini. From where we stayed at the Vedema Resort which was astoundingly beautiful in its architecture and sleek styling to the black volcanic sand beaches to the breathtaking majesty of the town of Ia, Santorini was like nothing else. Our time there consisted of:

  • More shopping

  • More laying out by the pool

  • More hot sex

  • More wonderful food

  • More good liquor

We checked out the museum and we toured a vineyard and promptly ordered a case of tasty Santorini wine sent home. The stuff is good. Just sayin. We went on a tram ride that nearly stopped my heart as I dislike two things: trams and Ferris wheels. We took a cruise to a nearby volcano where I found out just how out of shape I was when I was passed by a crew of old cats with friggin hiking sticks as I slumped on the side of the trail in a sweaty heap. Good times!!!!

Did I mention that on said cruise the bartender greeted me with the following: Fo Shizzle My Nizzle.

Yeah. *Sigh* As if it's some sort of real language that Black folks use. I need us to export something else to the world other than video hoes and "hip hop". It sucks to travel and learn everything you can about a place and find that all they know about you is the dumb shit. Oh also, I'm going to need Americans (I'm looking at you Midwestern tourist types) to act and dress like they have some damn sense when they travel. Sandals and socks are a no. Fanny packs? Really? Stop. Now.

Anyhoo, none withstanding Greece has been so far the best trip of my life. I'm dying to go back. I can't say enough about it. Yeah I know it took me months to say anything about it but whatever.

Later...............
