While being unemployed can have it's charms, the lack of money and the feeling of abject isolation isn't one of them. Being unemployed for an extended length of time definitely leaves you with plenty of time alone. While all of your friends and family are off working you have time to do things like:
- Wander your home
- Wear pajamas all day
- Skip showers
- Send resumes into nothingness
- Watch tons of TV
What folks don't tell you is that whether they mean to or not, they sorta quarantine you. Ok, maybe they don't but it feels that way. It's like they know unemployment is catching and they don't want to be exposed to it so they stay away from you. Or maybe they're too busy working to come out to play. Or maybe all this time alone has made me crazy. Or possibly all of the above. All I know is that I would rather be getting paid to be miserable.
While writing my poor bastard post, I got an email about an interview. Let's see if I can get off the island.
