I am exhausted today. No surprise there. At least today it's not because I stayed up to watch Adult Swim. No, this time it's because I went boozing with my co-workers and then to the most awesome thing I've seen all year (so far).

I went to see Anthony Hamilton last night at Irving Plaza with my homegirl S. It was an experience. He is the most awesome, astounding, and thoroughly gifted performer. He worked the crowd in to a fervor not unlike the type you'd see in some churches. The man is gifted. S is a convert now. She didn't even have the CD. She just went on the strength of all my praising. Nobody was left unsatisfied. All you could say after was damn!

It's amazing the power that music has. One song can conjure up feelings that you thought were dormant. A song could transport you to a hot summer day in the dead of winter. It can bring up memories of days long gone. One song could make you pinpoint a period in your life when you were at your absolute peak or at your lowest point.

I think that is why I love music so much. Scratch that. It's why I love GOOD music so much. And Anthony Hamilton makes some good ass music.
