Happy Monday! Not. So we had a nice long weekend. I got out of town. Yay right? Hell naw! I went on a roadtrip with my sands T and my spec J to Baltimore, Maryland to celebrate our (T & me) 10 year anniversary as members of the most illustrious Sorority, Zeta Phi Beta with our sands from Morgan State University.
So I'm all excited and prepped to go for the last few months and then two things happen:
1. My period comes
2. I realize that I don't know my sands from Morgan like that.
I also realize that when I did come in contact with them, they were standoffish and shady. So by Thursday I'm ready to opt out. But I don't since I usually don't like to foul up plans once I make them.
So Friday comes and I'm all packed and the plans (which are pretty sketchy) are in place. Me and J meet at my house and T comes in the rental to pick us up. We get on the road and end up parked in bumper to bumper traffic the whole way. All the while I'm poppin pills for crampfest 2004 that's going on in my abdomen.
We finally get there at like frikken 8, we left at 2. So apparently there was a club deal planned, complete with VIP room. All we had to do was get there and wait on the "VIP" line. Before I go into that, I have to recap the prep process for the club portion of the weekend. Which mainly consisted of T rushing me and J to get ready and resulted with J and myself waiting on the couch like little kids waiting for T to finish primping. Which set the tone for the entire weekend.
Back to the club deal. We get to the club and check with ListBoy, who informs us that everyone on the list is already inside. Which equals we ain't on the list and we ain't gettin in. My feelings weren't hurt either way since all I wanted to do was lie down under a heating pad at that point. But no, T contacts one of our sands and she eventually shows up to regulate Listboy and we get in free. Now that was the example of the shady that I mentioned earlier regarding my sands from Morgan. Now ya'll know we're coming from a long distance. Wouldn't it have made sense to make sure we were on the list?
Whatever. We go in and the music's good and it's packed with yokels from the area. I do mean yokels. Women in various stages of undress and men in various stages of corniness. All in various scenes pulled from their favorite videos. Oh did I mention that while waiting on the "VIP" line, a Lil John clone tried to holla at me? YEEEEEEEEAH! But hell no.
It was at this point that I knew the weekend suckage would be never ending. The celebration for Spring 94, was exactly that. But for Spring 94 at MORGAN. All others need not apply. As a matter of fact I spent the entire weekend being ignored along with J by T and the rest of my sands. Oh! Did I mention that the VIP room was a lot like a shower with chairs in it? I kept waiting for the water to come on and drench our asses. It even had a "shower curtain" that separated us from the yokels.
Now, I have to comment on the VIP thing that is so in now. You go to the club to mingle, no? So why the fuck would you pay more money to hang out in a room wit people you already know, closed off from everyone else? Stupid, just stupid.
The closer for me was, actually there were 2 closers. The "spa day" which consisted of them smearing dip on their faces while me and J sat in the corner and the "house party" which consisted of a pile of chicken wings, some wretched looking dip which turned out to be delicious, and dudes toking the LALALA outside, all while me and J sat in the corner.
Now I know the question that is coming up. Why didn't we socialize more? Well gee I don't know, maybe it was cause I got the sourface of life from most of them and they just weren't welcoming.
The only high point of the weekend was when we went to Annapolis. Which is a lovely port town that looks a lot like Martha's Vineyard. I loved it and it was such a lovely day too, but we had a "schedule" and we only stayed long enuff to have "brunch" (which consisted of salty shrimp, lasagna, and salty every damn thing else).
Note to self: NEVER roadtrip with T again.
I have said it before and truly forgotten. But I won't next time. Lemme run down the reasons why I must remember never to roadtrip with my sands T again.
1. She's incredibly selfish on these trips. We always end up doing things she wants to do.
2. She does not consult with the roadtrip crew on plan changes.
3. She almost always is operating with an ulterior motive, in this case wanting to see her married ex. Of course then when she didn't she was ready to leave like immediately. Me and J only came into the equation because she needed J to drive and me to keep J company while she chilled with her peeps.
4. She's bi-polar moody. She's cool one minute and snarky and mean the next.
5. She treats service folks horribly. But that's a regular thing. It always makes me cringe.
6. When you call her on things 1-5, she's ridiculously irrational about it.
Thus, NEVER again.
As for work, I'm tired and headachey since I didn't sleep nearly enough this weekend. And I want to go home. Bah! Oh and it sucks moose dick outside and I don't have my scarf. Yay!
Later......
